Tentative DJ Schedule
Location: Acid Totem presents the first ever Mendonesia, happening at a beautiful location in the Mendocino National Forest. All responsible party people are welcome. The party location is a 3 hour drive from SF, Oakland, and Sacramento. Click the link at the top of the page for directions.
Getting there: Upon entering National Forest lands, you will traverse a steep hill climb for several miles on a paved road. Because temperatures can easily reach the upper 90s, a reliable vehicle is recommended. You will be required to drive approximately 8 miles on a dirt fire road. The fire road is well groomed and in good condition, but can be rather dusty. There is also a small creek crossing 1 mile from the campground (less than 6inches deep). So long you don't have a lowered rice rocket, getting to the location should not be a problem. The nearest gas station is at least 45 minutes from the party, be sure you have enough to get you there and back!
This is a Leave No Trace event: because this is a free event, we need your help packing out the trash. Everyone will be expected to pack out their own trash since there is no trash collection at the campground. Every car will be provided with a friendly note from your Acid Totem friends along with a trash bag.
Cost: Just gas to get the location, other than that, it's free! However, donations are greatly appreciated.
Weather: Expect highs in the 90s during the day, and into the 50s at night. There is plenty of shade in the campground to protect you from the sun.
Campsite Ammenities: Arrive early for prime camping spots. There are several fire rings and picnic tables scattered throughout the campground. There are two pit toilets onsite, so please don't shit in the woods! It is recommended that you bring a roll of toilet paper just in case. Aside from the pit toilets, the campsite is primitive, which means there is no running water or electricity. You will need to bring your own water, or you can extract water from the creek next to the campground with a water purifying system. The nearest gas and food are 45+ minutes away. Upper Lake will be your last chance for gas and food.
Extreme Fire Danger: It should not come as a surprise to anyone, but the entire Mendcino National Forest is in a state of extreme fire danger. Fires in fire rings are permitted, but there will be no poi, fire spinning, or any other type of pyro-activities permitted at this party. If you have a propane stove, grill,or heater, please keep it out site from any Forest Service employees. If you are a smoker, please discard all your butts into a trash can or bottle. If you see someone flick their butt on the ground, please give them a friendly reminder to discard their butts in the appropriate place.
Other Activities in the forest: Depending on how far you're willing to drive, there are a number of great outdoor activities available in the National Forest. Boating is available at Lake Pillsbury, swimming and fishing at places like Letts Lake and Eel River, ATV trails cover large portions of the forest near Middle Creek, Penny Pines, and Stonyford, there's miles of hiking and mountain bikings trails in the forest and adjacent Snow Mountain Wilderness (no mountain bikes in wilderness areas).
