The Collective

IIn the summer of 2003, a group of like minded students came together to form the Acid Totem collective. That August, they threw their very first renegade party in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Only about a dozen people showed up to the party, and ironically, it was this dismal turnout that inspired the collective to ensure that the next party was always better than the last. "Always strive to out-do the last party" is a mantra that Acid Totem has always tried to live up to. The parties soon grew from a few dozen loyal followers to 50, then 100, 200, and now, it's not uncommon to stumble across an Acid Totem gathering with several hundred beaituful peope moving to the ubiquitous grooves flowing from the sound system.

Since its inception in 2003, the Acid Totem collective has grown in members and wattage. The tentacles of the collective continue to reach beyond their limits, with over 50 renegade outdoor parties to date as far away as Mendocino County and Big Sur. Events like the Big Sur Camp Out and Santa Cruz Mountains Smoke Out have become legendary in their own rites. Part of Acid Totem's equation to creating a great party is location. From the Redwood Forests of the Coast Range, the rugged coves of the coast, and the awesome views to be had in the Santa Lucias of Big Sur.

Staying true to early rave culture, all are welcome so long you come with a positive attitude. We can better the world and ourselves through the process of keeping our minds open and making a concious effort to erase our prejudices. Most of us live in a world largely void of the interconnectedness that once thrived throughout humankind. It's a place where people keep to themselves while riding public transportation, or walking down the street. Deprogram your mind, let go of your inhibitions, and experience life. Share your warm words of welcome and your smile with your fellow party patrons, go shake the DJs hand, give your friend or a stranger a hug, give respect and thanks to the one and only Mother Earth, and remember, that we are ALL connected.
